According to me, Thrissur has the best variety of food. Thrissur has many locales and streets packed with cafés and restaurants. Given below are some of the many food items and restaurants worthy of a visit in Thrissur.

The most well-liked dish in Thrissur is fresh Vellayappams, along with other delights from Kerala that can be found in the many shacks lining the narrow street close to Dolors Basilica. Other than this, the neighbourhood is populated with snacks like achappams, idiyappams, and kuzhalappam.

While the favourites like Dosa, Idli, Upma, Poori and more are readily available, all of these stand out in the town. The town's many dining establishments offer both vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine that can be enjoyed. At some establishments, one could also be able to sample a distinctive touch of North Indian food.

Dosa is definitely, hands-down, my most favourite breakfast item. The best breakfast places where you can get dosa, poori, and upma in Thrissur are:

Mani’s restaurant

Since I was a child, Mani’s has been my favourite breakfast place, and you have my assurance you won’t be disappointed. Initially located near Sapna theatre in the round, it has now been shifted to Peringavu. It definitely has the best Nei Roast (ghee dosa) and masala dosa Thrissur has to offer. They serve this with sambhar, white chutney, and spicy red chammandhi. Sadly, Mani’s is closed on Sundays.

Sree Radhakrishna Coffee House

Nei roast, masala dosa, poori, and upma here are all top-notch. If you’re dining, you will be served fluid chutney and katta chutney (dry) if you take out. They have the biggest Uzhunnu vada. One vada is sufficient.(Uzhunu vada is medu vada). Radhakrishna is located on the municipal road.

Hotel Bharath

Bharath could be considered the most famous restaurant in Thrissur. It is located in the heart of Thrissur and has been successfully running for the past 59 years. Masala Dosa and coffee are probably the best breakfast options to try. The typical other breakfast items are likewise rather tasty. If you enter Bharath in the afternoon, you will find a packed restaurant and a line of people waiting to receive "Meals" tokens. That in and of itself says volumes about the standing of Bharath Meals. Additionally, the North Indian cuisine is just as good at night (starting, I believe, at 7 p.m.). My favourites include Butter Naan, Paneer Butter Masala, and Chukka Gobi.

Hotel Aravi

This is a small restaurant near Westfort. They have good puttu kadala and vellappam. Their kadala curry and ulli curry (onion curry) are so tasty and spicy that one ends up with the taste of it in their tongue long after eating it. They also have hot porottas.

Porotta and beef.

Porotta and beef are the staple diets of every Malayalee. Being a vegetarian, I would argue Porotta and Gobi Manchurian are just as good, but I end up losing that debate to my friends every single time. Also, porotta is a maida-rich food and not to be confused with paratha.

Akshaya Multi-cuisine Restaurant

The most crowded restaurant in Thrissur. Akshaya provides all options, from local cuisine to Chinese, American, Italian, and Arabian. Their USP or what they are most famous for is their Karimeen Polichathu (Pearl spot or chromide fish) and fish curry meals. Akshaya is a heaven for non-vegetarians who wish to try different varieties of dishes. My favourite dishes here are Porotta, mushroom tikka and Gobi 65. Akshaya’s success can be seen in its management of the never-ending crowd in all three branches, namely Chembottil lane, Marar Road, and its prime outlet in Puzhakkal.

Hotel Mohan

This restaurant is located at the turning towards Kerala Varma college. They are an old restaurant that was established almost 75 years ago. They are a small, traditional restaurant with very few tables and two waiters. Initially, the waiter cleans the table and puts an Ela (banana leaf) on it for the customer to eat from. All food items are served on the ela. After eating, one has to fold the ela and take it to the bin near the washroom to dispose of it. My suggestion from Mohan’s would be their very crunchy pooris and masala curry.
